As it's nearly Easter I've made a pretty egg related freebie pattern. Introducing the 'Egg-cellent Easter Pocket Hug'. A little gift you can make for your family and friends whilst social contact is still limited.

It's an easy pattern worked in the round from top to bottom with colour changes.

You'll need 5 different coloured DK yarns for one egg and 3 strands of black for the embroidery of the eyes. A small amount of stuffing is also needed.

I used Garnstudio Drops Muskat cotton yarn in the following colours:

(C1) Baby Pink (10), (C2) Apple Green (53), (C2) Mint (03), (C3) Ice Blue (60), (C3) Royal Blue (15), (C4) Vanilla Yellow (30), (C4) Pink Panther (29), (C5) Coral (40), Black (17) (C5) Light Blue (02)

They are 50g balls and you will only need a small amount of each.

US terminology

Abbreviations

St - Stitch

Ch - Chain

SC - single crochet

rep - repeat

FO - fasten off

SS - slip stitch

** - these indicate which part you should repeat

() - indicates the number of SC to be made in a single st

() at the end of a round - indicates the total number of stitches you should have at the end of that round

Special stitches

Long SC - The SC is made not in the previous round you would usually work on but whichever one is indicated (this SC will go over the st that it would have been in on the current round and the next regular SC is made in the next st)

SC Decrease - Written as SC2TOG. Insert the hook into the st, yoh, pull through. Rep this in the next st and then yoh and pull through all loops

Note

I always keep the ends of my colour change on the inside and just knot them tightly together. That way you can keep them inside of the egg as a little extra stuffing and not have to weave them in.

Change colours on the last yoh of the last st of the round and then SS to join, ready to work the next colour.

Important - Always end each round by joining with a SS to the first SC. The Ch 1 at the beginning of a round does not count as a st. The first SC is to be made in the first st.
