A festive Christmas make for you to try. A fun little pattern that is quick and easy to complete. Introducing the 'Festive Tree Bauble'.

It's worked in the round from top to bottom with no colour changes although you could change on certain single crochet rows for a different look. Here is an example of an ombré version I made with Drops Muskat cotton yarn.

Yarn

I used Rico Design Fashion Cotton Metallise DK yarn in White Gold (002). They are 50g balls. You will need less than the 50g per bauble.

Tools

3.5mm hook

Scissors

Yarn needle

Gauge

5 rounds of SC = 2.25"

US terminology

Abbreviations

St - Stitch

MC - Magic Circle

Ch - Chain

SC - Single Crochet

Rep - Repeat

FO - Fasten Off

HDC - Half Double Crochet

FLO - Front Loop Only

DC - Double crochet

BLO - Back Loop Only

Inv Dec - Invisible Decrease

** - these indicate which part you should repeat

() - indicates the number of stitches to be made in a single st

() - at the end of a round - indicates the total number of stitches you should have at the end of that round

Special stitches

SC increase - This is written as (2SC) and means that 2 SC are placed in the same stitch creating an increase.

HDC increase - This is written as (2HDC) and means that 2 HDC are placed in the same stitch creating an increase.

Inv Dec - Insert the hook into front loop of the st, yoh, pull through. Rep this in the next st and then yoh and pull through all loops.

Note

This project is made in the round with no joins so a stitch marker may be helpful.

The 5 DC made in one stitch is referred to as a shell.

Important - Weave in your initial tail after Round 2 otherwise you will not be able to reach it or you can knot it and leave on the inside.

FO leaving a long tail

Using a yarn needle use the tail to sew through each of the remaining 6 loops and pull tightly. Sew up through the bauble to come out at the centre of Round 1. Leaving a loop sew back down through same hole and out at the bottom where you FO. Knot and weave in the end. This will create your loop to hang it up.

Your ‘Festive Tree Bauble' is ready to hang up for Christmas!
